92 Bikes, Countless Smiles: The 2nd Annual James Wisniewski III Bike Build Carries On a Legacy of Joy
Georgetown, TX, May 15, 2025 — On Saturday, May 17th, the spirit of love, adventure, and healing will roll through the halls of Bryan-College Station’s Kemp-Carver Elementary School as volunteers gather to build and give away 92 bikes to local children. This marks the second bike build honoring the life and legacy of James Wisniewski III, a vibrant young man whose life was tragically cut short in August 2024.
Inspired by James’s passion for biking and his joyful, adventurous spirit, his family launched an ambitious mission: to build and give away 6,886 bikes, one for every day James blessed this world. With this event, they move 92 bikes closer to that heartfelt goal.
“We’re honored to host this special event at Kemp-Carver Elementary,” said Alison Boggan, Principal of Kemp-Carver Elementary School. “Our Cubs will not only receive a new bike but a lasting reminder of kindness and community. These are the moments that make a lifelong impact.”
For Kristie Wisniewski, James’s grandmother and the driving force behind this mission, the bike builds are about more than just bicycles. “This journey has brought friends and family together in the most beautiful way,” Kristie shared. “While we heal from our loss, we also celebrate James’s life by giving kids the same joy he found on two wheels. Every smile, every bike, it’s like James is still riding alongside us.”
Kenna Smith, Managing Director for Bikes for Goodness Sake, “Kristie’s mission isn’t just about the bikes, it’s about building a legacy of love and resilience. Each bike built is a story of hope, a promise that joy can rise even from heartbreak.”
Volunteers are still needed to help reach the goal of building 92 bikes during the event. No tools or prior experience are required, just a pair of hands and a heart ready to make a difference.
